Rendering a Map

At this point, I could render a map. I’d stripped out some features that weren’t needed for a bike computer, but it worked. I set the starting position at Ladd’s Addition—its distinctive street layout makes it one of the easiest places in Portland to recognize on a map.

The tiles were still rendering one at a time, but now they had more detail. I hadn’t figured out how to draw them all together yet, but seeing a more complete map on the screen felt like progress.
